Alpha "Alf" Jaques Roberts, 85, of Idaho Falls, died April 15, 1992, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center following a lingering illness.

He was born February 25, 1907 at Sugar City to John Lloyd and Amy Ricks Jaques Roberts. He grew up in Sugar City and attended schools there. He had also lived in Kilgore, Twin Groves, St. Anthony, Ammon, Rockford, Moreland, Rupert, and Idaho Falls.

On October 24, 1932 he married Mildred Brown in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She died in 1949. He married Helen Amelia Wilcox December 14, 1950, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He was a farmer, custodian, and a clerk before his retirement.

He was an active member of the LDS Church and served a mission to the Southern states from 1929 to 1932. He had also served in the presidencies of the Elders Quorum and High Priests Quorum. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading history.

Survivors include his wife of Idaho Falls; children, Gordon and Bing Roberts, both of Rigby, ID; Gary Roberts of Blackfoot, ID; Darlene Belnap of St. George, UT; Bruce Roberts, Jill Roberts, and Charles Roberts, all of Salt Lake City, UT; three brothers and five sisters, Luther Roberts of Weiser, ID; Wesley Roberts of Ontario, OR, Lee Roberts of Casper, WY, Esther Bradley of Twin Falls, ID; June Albano of Orem, UT, Grace Davenport of Boise, ID, Elva Huskinson of Mesa, AZ, and Ruth Sessions of Idaho Falls, ID; 25 Grand-children, and 10 Great-Grand-children. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Idaho Falls LDS 4th Ward. Visitation will be tonight from 7 to 9 at Wood Funeral Home in Idaho Falls and Saturday for one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in Parker Cemetery.
