Wilbert was the third of seven children born to Martha Marie (Bierman) and Albert Friedrich Belling. He grew up in Appleton, WI and when he joined the Army, he was stationed at Ft. Sheridan, IL. On July 25, 1933 he married Evelyn Stika in Clark County, WA. The couple moved to Los Angeles to raise their family and live out their days. Wilber and Evelyn had four children: Kenneth Roger, Ronald Lee, Richard Leroy and Kathleen Joy.
