Winifred Beachum was the first of nine children born to Isaac Beachum (c.1727-1776/7) and his wife Susannah Hill (c.1735-1820s). Her paternal grandparents were Daniel Beachum and his wife Rebecca of Northumberland Co., Va.; and her maternal grandparents were William Hill III and his wife Sarah Suggitt, of Richmond Co., Va.

Winifred's family moved from Northumberland Co. to Cumberland Co., Va. around 1758, then moved to Edgecombe Co., NC around 1763. Winifred married John Lowry (c.1750-1818) in Edgecombe Co. in 1772. They moved to Anson Co., NC around 1779, and came to Stewart Co., Tenn. around 1807. John died in Stewart Co. in 1818. Winifred died in Henry Co. in 1836.

I don't know if John and Winifred Beachum Lowry are buried there; but at least two of their childen are, and the sign says the cemetery was established by the Lowry family in the early 1800s.
