William Beachum/Beacham was a son of Isaac Beachum (c.1727-1776/7) and his wife Susannah Hill (1730s-1820s). He was born in Littleton Parish, Cumberland County, Virginia, but his family moved to Edgecombe County, NC around 1764. After his father's death, his mother took the younger children back to Virginia, where William and the others were made wards of her brother Thomas Suggett Hill. Sometime before 1790, most of the family had moved to Anson County, North Carolina.

William married Margaret Lowry. She was likely a relative of his sister Winifred's husband John Lowry, but I haven't figured that out yet. Sometime before 1800, William and Margaret moved their family to Spartanburg County, South Carolina, where William died around 1811/12. (He was deceased by 15 May 1812.)
