She was born November 8, 1931, in Colmesneil, Texas to Fay Faircloth Ratcliff and Jay Ratcliff, and had been a resident of Mid-County since 1974.
Dorothy was employed as a teacher; working over thirty years in education before retiring. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Nederland.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Elvin Gibson and his wife, Tammy; daughter, Sherry Jean Kelley and her husband, Keith; sister, Johelen Poindexter; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Marie Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Dr. Dewey Elvin Gibson.
