Funeral service for Mattie Fay Faircloth Ratcliff, 89, of Colmesneil, Texas, was held Sunday, October 27, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Colmesneil with Rev. David Miller and Dr. Elvin Gibson officiating with burial following at Colmesneil Cemetery.

Visitation was held Friday evening at the Riley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ratcliff passed away October 25, at her daughter’s residence in Nederland.

Born April 21, 1912 in Woodville to Jay and Josie McGee Faircloth, she was a lifelong resident of Tyler County. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Colmesneil.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Ratcliff.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Elvin Gibson of Nederland and Johelen and Wesley Poindexter of Houston; sisters, Ann Sturrock of Colmesneil and Sybil McFarlin of Silsbee; grandchildren, Sherry and Keith Kelly of Beaumont, Jerry Gibson of Port Acres, Alan Poindexter of Houston, Karen and Tim Hubbard of Rosharon; Andrea Poindexter of Houston; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Serving as pallbearers were Joe Hignett, Billy Ratcliff, Billy Faircloth, Walter Hyde, Jamie Davis and Orval Davis.

Services were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
