Mary Ann McKenna was born February 27, 1918, at St. Benedict, Iowa, to John and Caroline (Mulert) Arndorfer. She received her education at St. Benedict Catholic School and moved to Algona in 1942. On June 21, 1943, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Raymond McKenna at St. Benedict. The couple lived in Connecticut and Key West, Florida, before moving to California in 1951. While living in California, Mary Ann worked in a retail yardage store. Ray and Mary Ann moved to Algona in 1990. Mary Ann enjoyed sewing, reading, music, traveling, but her greatest enjoyment was playing cards as she belonged to several card clubs.


Mary Ann became a resident of the Episcopal Home in St. Paul, Minnesota, in January, 2008, and died there on Thursday, October 2, 2008, at the age of 90.


Survivors include her son David and wife Vicki McKenna of St. Paul, Minnesota, three granddaughters, Shauna McKenna and daughter Annie of Los Angeles, California, Tara and husband Jim Waldron and son Tyler of New Brighton, Minnesota and Laura and husband Chris Smith of St. Cloud, Minnesota. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray in August, 2001, brothers and sisters, Mathilda Goetz, Lorraine Campbell, Irma Lichter, Betty Loebig, Leonard, Clarence, Arthur and Arnold Arndorfer.
