A retired school bus driver with the Pointe Coupee Parish School Board and a resident of Rougon, he died at his home in Rougon. He was 74. Visiting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lakeland, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2004, conducted by the Rev. Gregory Daigle. Interment in Chenal Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Eula Manchester; five daughters, Janice Lee, Shirley Brisco, Deborah Aguillard, Patricia Ruffin and Priscilla Beshears; four sons, Larry, Oliver, Raymond and Rickey Manchester; three sisters, Dorothy Bracken, Clementine Franklin and Joyce Jackson; three brothers, Wilson, Earl and Charles Manchester; 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Davis; and parents, John and Ida Manchester.
