Charles P. Anthony
Conover- Charles Phillip Anthony, 64, of 402 North Davis Avenue, Newton, died at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday in an area hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born Sept. 28, 1912, in Catawba County, he was a son of the late Phillip and Sarah Martin Anthony. Anthony was a retired employe of the public works department for the City of Newton. He was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his widow, Elvia Smith Anthony and three sisiters, W. P. (Helen) Blackwell and Mrs. Taylor (Kate) Benfield, both of Newton, and Mrs. Vernon (Rose) Spencer of Hickory.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover. The Rev. C. B. Barr will conduct the services. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery in Newton.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 until 8:30 0'clock tonight.
