AREA WOMAN DEATH VICTIM


NEWTON--Mrs. Addie Scronce, 85, of 722 North Davis Avenue, Newton, died Thursday in a Hickory hospital after a lingering illness.


A Caldwell County native, she was born March 1, 1887 to the late Phillip and Sarah Anthony. Her husband, Jake Scronce, preceded her in death.


Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Caldwell Avenue Baptist Church in Newton with the Rev. Wilburn Edmondson officiating, assisted by the Rev. Johnny Ellis. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour.


Among her survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Taylor Benfield, Mrs. W. P. Blackwell, both of Newton, and Mrs. Vernon Spencer of Portland, Ore. ; a brother, Charles Anthony of Newton; and a number of nieces and nephews.


The body will remain at Hoyle-Lynch Funeral Home in Newton, where the family will receive from 7 until 9 0'clock tonight.
