John R. PECH
The service for John R. PECH, 83, 705 W. Stone Ave., who died at 8:58 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 1996, at Jefferson County Hospital, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home, with Jeff Evans and Bryan Evans officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Jefferson County, and Senior Citizen Center.
PECH was born March 17, 1912, in Algona, the son of Frederick William and Mary Theresa BODE PECH. He lived most of his life in Fairfield, graduating from Fairfield High School in 1931. On June 21, 1941, he married Margery Rosetta SPEER in Bremerton, Wash. She died Sept. 22, 1986. He started Pech's Radiator Repair Shop in 1947, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Eagles Lodge (sic - Aerie/Club) 1927.
Surviving are a daughter, Janyce PECH of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Michael and Richard, both of Fairfield, Fred of Phoenix; three grandchildren; three brothers, David of Fairfield, Warren of Keosauqua, Louis of California; and a sister, Dorothea SHORT of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanne GROTH; three brothers, Robert, Theodore, Bill; and three sisters, Mary, Carrie and Ruth Alice.
