He was born March 28, 1908 in the town of Stockbridge, son of the late John and Clara (Dorn) Ecker.
He attended school at Quinney and at St. Mary’s in Stockbridge.
On June 27, 1935 he married Monica Diedrich at St. Rosa’s Catholic Church, Clintonville. After marriage the couple farmed in the town of Stockbridge until his retirement in 1983.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Kloten. He enjoyed fishing and his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Monica; two daughters, Rita and Robert Schaefer, Stockbridge, and Dorothy and Ronald Alger, Hilbert; three sons, LeRoy and Janet, Robert and Carolyn, and Allen and Linda, all of Stockbridge; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; three sisters, Florence and Ed Schreiber, Chilton, Margaret Leitner, California, and Marie Hauser, Sherwood; two brothers, Raymond and Rose and Marvin and Martha, all of Stockbridge; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Dohr, Stockbridge. He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant daughter and three brothers.
In accordance with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Kloten. Rev. Peter Coffey, SDS will officiate.
