John Ecker died early Sunday morning at St. Elizabeth’s hospital, Appleton. He had been in ill health for six months and entered the hospital July 9, for an unsuccessful operation.
He was born in Hancock, Mich., June 6, 1872, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Wendel Ecker. He came to Wisconsin at the age of 12 and lived on what is known as the Peter Ecker farm for a time.
Mr. Ecker was married Nov. 12, 1901 to Miss Clara Dorn at Stockbridge, and settled on the farm in South Stockbridge where the family still lives. Nine children were born to them. One son, Edwin, is deceased.
Survivors, besides the widow, are Florence Schreiner, St. John; George, Ray, Hillary and Armin, Stockbridge town; Margaret Leitner, Fond du Lac; Marvin, on the home farm; Marie Hauser, Hilbert; three grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Mary Simon, Mt. Calvary.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at St. Mary’s church here, Rev. Theo Kersten officiated and member of the Holy Name society and Foresters attended in a body.
Active pallbearers were A. H. Flatley, H. P. Thill, Geo. Hemauer, Will Hemauer, Frank Cordy and Nick Franzen. Burial was in St. Mary’s cemetery.
