Raymond L. Ecker, 91, of Stockbridge, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997, at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton.
He was born on March 31, 1905, in the Town of Stockbridge, a son of John and Clara Dorn Ecker. On May 23, 1928, he married Catherine Rose Diedrich at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Kloten.
Mr. Ecker farmed in the Town of Stockbridge, was a Calumet County deputy sheriff and a game warden for 41 years. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Church in Kloten and Winnebago East Shore Conversation Club. Mr. Ecker was remembered as the first person to rent ice fishing shanties to fishermen on Lake Winnebago.
Survivors include two daughters, Dolores "Dolly" Birschbach and her husband Nelson of Beaver Dam, and Judy Ecker of Brookfield; one son, Earl and his wife Nancy of Stockbridge; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Florence Schreiner of Chilton, Marie Hauser of Sherwood and Marge. Leitner of San Rafael, Calif.; one brother, Marvin and his wife Martha of Chilton; and one sister-in-law, Monica Ecker of Hilbert. Preceding him in death were his wife on March 30, 1996; one grandson, Kurtis Ecker; and three brothers, George, Hillary and Arnim.
Services: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Church in Kloten. The Rev. Fred Peters, SDS, will officiate.
Visitation: From 9 a.m. Wednesday to the time of services at the church. Wieting Funeral Home of Chilton is handling arrangements.
