Born to John Fielding and Susannah Coup(e), Richard came to America in 1888 for new job opportunites and a more prosperous life. He met his wife Sarah thru his best friend Tommy Smythe. They married in Milwalkee, Wisconsin on 5 July 1892 at the Calvary Presbyterian Church. In 1900 the Census shows them in Silver Bow, South Butte Montana. They had 3 babies by this time Agnes Margaret, Myrtle Olivia, and Isaac Jefferson. I don't know for sure where these children were born. Robert Lincoln was born in Butte, Montana. I think they moved to Butte, Montana because Richard thought he would try farming. Well, I guess that didn't work out so well. While there they buried his father John and 2 babies. One named Loreta, whom is buried with her Grandpa John. In 1917 the City Directory finds them in Seattle, Washington I suppose to work at the boat docks. Richard's family taught major trade was iron work. He worked at the docks for several years. In 1926 the City Directory finds them in Ventura, CA with Grandpa Richard's Occupation being a blacksmith. The story has been told that Richard got kicked in the stomach by a horse and died a short time after....I will order the death certificate to see. It took me 2years or so to find where Richard was buried. A special thank you to Chester Norman who knew where Grandpa Richard was buried.
