Elsie Victoria Sunding was born January 16, 1912, in northern Hyde County, South Dakota, to Gunder and Maggie (Knudtson) Sunding and died September 13, 2001, at the Highmore Healthcare Center, Highmore, South Dakota, atthe age of 89 years, seven months and 27 days.
She was baptized and confirmed inthe lutheran faith at an early age and was alofe long member of the LUtheran church. She attending school in Douglas Township in Hude County, graduating from Highmore High School.
She was united in marriage to Ariel Odegaard on June 29, 1932. They established their home in Spring Lake Township, where they farmed and ranced for 32 years. Following the sudden death of her husband, she built a home in Highmore, where she owned and operated The Odegaard Flowershop for 23 years.
She was an active member of her church group, a former member of the Countryside Garden Club and served as Hyde County Crusade Chariman of the American Cancer Society for several years.
Survivors include: one brother and sister in law, Daniel and Freda Sunding of HIghmore; one sister, Ella Weidenbach of Rapid City; one sister in law, Alice Sunding of Highmore; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Clarence and one sister, Leona Weidenbach.
