Amy Augusta Ekstrom Nelson was the daughter of Per A. Ekstrom and Alma Marie Erickson. She was born March 28, 1914 on her parent's farm. She married Chester Ervin Nelson on Nov. 4, 1936 at her parent's home. After their marriage, Amy and Chester rented the Christain Schmelling farm until 1944 when they purchased their own farm in Kandiyohi Township. They attended the Baptist Church in Niobe. Chester and Amy retired from farming in 1973 and moved to Kenmare where they lived until their deaths. Chester and Amy are buried in the Lakeview Cemetery in Kenmare, North Dakota. They had four children: Chester Ervin Jr., Harlan Dwight, Joan Maydelle, and Marjorie Kaye, and two beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Amy and Brenda Lea Wirtz.
