Roy⁷ August Carlson's paternal lineage: (John⁶, Nils⁵ Carlsson, Carl⁴ Åkesson, Åke³ Persson, Per²Anderson, Anders¹ Ekman)

Roy August Carlson was the fourth of eight children born to John W. Carlson and Ellen Larson. His father immigrated from Vollsjo, Skane Lan, Sweden to Big Stone County, Clinton, Minnesota .

Roy contacted polio and walked with crutches, but that did not stop him.
Roy had many jobs in his life. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp in Montana, was employed at a gas station in Bowbells, ND served as Burke County Auditor for five years as Renville County Judge in Mohall, ND. He lived at that time in the (Ernest) Nelson Apartments in Mohall, North Dakota.

On Sept. 22, 1962 in Bowbells, ND, Roy married Gladys Volberg Van Berkom,(Sept. 6, 1914 to Ap. 18, 1989) . Gladys was the dau. of Carl and Alice Volberg of Powers Lake, ND Roy and Gladys lived in Flaxton, ND where he worked as an Insurance Agent and had an Income Tax service. Later they moved to Bowbells, ND where he continued as an insurance agent and had an income tax service. Roy and Gladys are buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND.
