Vera Marion (Carlson) Melby (44) was the seventh of ten children born to John Wilhelm Carlson (Swedish immigrant) and Ellen Christine (Larson) Carlson. She was born in Roseland Township where her parents were farming on the prairie at the base of the hills about six miles west of Niobe, North Dakota.
When she was about 5 yrs old she moved with her parents to Bowbells, ND. She graduated from Bowbells High School.
In Minot on June 15, 1949 she married Audran "Audie" M. Melby, son of son of Carlton and Edith (Larson) Melby from the Bowbells area.
Vera died of cancer.
