Career Marine. Lied about his age and enlisted in the USMC after his brother, 2nd Lt. George Allison Whiteman was shot down at Bellows Field when Pearl Harbor was bombed. Served in the Consolidation of the North Solomons Campaign of WWII.

Married first Gloria ? (She was in the WMC (prob CA) ca 1946-47; married 2nd Edythe Ruth Ray ca 1953-54 (prob in California)-they had one daughter Sharon, b: 1954 in Texas. (Edythe had an older daughter Kathy from previous marriage.) After they were divorced Edythe married Eugene L. Devens who adopted Sharon; married 3rd Sachiko Fugii in 1959.
