GLADWIN MAN DIES
GLADWIN --- Elmer Cassiday, 83, of Gladwin and a resident of Gladwin County for 64 years, died Saturday in the Gladwin Hospital following a six - month illness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. from the Skeels Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Briggs officiating. Burial will be in the Skeels cemetery.
Mr. Cassiday is survived by his widow, Cora, whom he married March 24, 1892, in Gladwin; two sons, Willard, Flint, and Wilburt, Midland; five daughters, Mrs. Ortha Willis, Mrs. Bertha VanHorn, Mrs. Stella Bardwell, Mrs. Sylvia Nunn all of Gladwin and Mrs. Margaret Garbet, Flint; 27 grandchildren; 44 great-grancchildren; one sister and four brothers.
Mr. Cassiday was born in Union County, Ohio, Oct. 5, 1873. He was employed by the Dow Chemical Company until the time of his retirement in 1938. Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin, is in charge of funeral arrangements. Mr. Cassiday will be taken from the funeral home to the church at 1:30 p.m. where the Gladwin IOOF Lodge No. 171, of which Mr. Cassiday was a member, will participate in the services.
