James Leroy "Lee" Rhynes, 78, died Friday, April 6, 2012 in Angleton, Texas. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11th at Starbuck Funeral Home in Merkel with Reverend Todd Keller officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10th at the funeral home.
Lee was born January 11, 1934 in Anson to Rupert Clarence and Texana Lois (Barnett) Rhynes. He was proud to be an electrician and member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Some of Lee's interest included hunting, fishing, bowling, dominoes and other games, reading western books and doing crossword puzzles. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include six children, Connie Rhynes of Angleton, Steven L. Rhynes and wife Judy of Nederland, Theresa "Terri" Huffman and husband Ken both of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and Hot Springs Village, AR, Rebecca "Becky" McKinney and husband Paul of Danbury, Vicki Lanham and husband Greg of Angleton, Jamie Campbell and husband John of Angleton; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Henry, Theldon and Ray Rhynes; and two sisters, Louise Hallford and Marie Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank and Jimmy; sister, Frances Stallo; grandson, Bobby; and great-grandson, Micah.
