VERNON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY OBITUARY ARTICLE (Cashton, Wisconsin Newspaper): Another Father Gone to His Reward
Samuel W. Perkins, pioneer resident of this community, passed away December 31, 1920 at his home in this village, after an illness of five weeks, at the age of nearly 75 years, passing to the great beyond with the closing of the old year.
Mr. Perkins was born May 29, 1846 in Niagara County, New York, and in 1853 he came to Wisconsin with his parents, residing in ___ vicinity for 65 years and ____ Cashton for 21 years. (part of the article is missing)
__________eight are living, one dying in infancy. There are left to mourn his loss three sons and five daughters, namely: Reuben of St. Paul, Edwin of Ontario, Arthur of Cashton, Mrs. Pearl Hughes of Bloomingdale, Mrs. Emil Erickson of Cashton, Mrs. Vincent Wilt of La Crosse, Mrs. Carl McDaniel of Westby and Mrs. Ernest Davis of Litchfield, Minnesota. All but one of his children were at his bedside during his illness. Three brothers and four sisters, all excepting two were at his bedside. He also had thirty-seven grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. His life companion passed away February 2, 1920.
He was always a kind and loving father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He died fully believing int he promises of Him who careth for all.
