Thomas Jefferson Perkins, son of Lewis and Harriet Perkins, was born in the town of Clinton, Vernon county Wisconsin, March 6th, 1857, and passed away at his home October 18, 1926, at the age of 69 years, 7 months and 12 days.
He was united in marriage to Eva Appleman, February 6, 1877, and to this union was born nine children, as follows: Jesse, Emery, Jerome, Mrs. Jim Wirts, Andrew, Mrs. Walter Hughes, Ina May, Mrs. Charlie Masrud and Ernest. Ina May passed away at the age of three years, 1894.
Mr. Perkins has been in very poor health for 10 years, the last three suffering a great deal and was confined to his bed most of the time. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a friend to all, always read to lend a helping hand.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife and eight children, 22 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, all of whom were present. Two brothers, J. R. Perkins of Barron, Wis., L. C. Perkins of Blue Earth, Minnesotga, and four sisters, Abbie Baaken of Minneapolis, Maria Adams of Red Wing, Minnesota, Elma Latimer of Genoa Wis. Mary Appleman of LaFarge, besides many other relatives and a host of friends.
All that loving hearts could suggest was done for him, but human help was unavailable and in the end was defeated, and he passed quietly away. It is a comfort to know that "Some day we'll understand."
