Walter Stafford Laid to Rest

Services for Walter Stafford of near Woodland were held at 2 pm, Saturday in Memorial Funeral Home of Houston with Rev. Billy Guest officiating. Burial was in Palestine Cemetery near Montpelier. He was 73.

Pallbearers were: Carlton Stafford, John Edd Stafford, Earl Huffman, James Martin, Emmett F Stafford, and Charles Martin.

Mr. Stafford died at 5:30 pm Friday in the Houston Hospital after several weeks' illness.

He was born in Clay county on Dec. 2, 1893, son of Jim and Minnie Davis Stafford. Most of his life was spent in Clay and Chickasaw counties. He was a member of the Woodland Baptist Church.

Mr. Stafford leaves three brothers, Aubrey of Woodland, Hack of Houston, and Emmitt of Columbus. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews.

For the past few years he has made his home with a niece, Mrs. Earl Huffman, of Woodland. Pallbearers were his nephews.
