In a Newspaper from Rawlins, Wyoming Dated 18 June 1925 it states:
ED A. SMITH DIED AT LOCAL HOSPITAL TUESDAY AFTERNOON
Ed A. Smith, 24 years old, who was traveling across the country on freight trains, died at the Memorial hospital at 2:15 Tuesday afternoon. A wire has been sent to his father who lives in Utah but up to the present time no answer has been received and the remains will be help for a short time in hopes that a reply may be had from Smith's father.
Ed Smith and his brother reached Rawlins the latter part of last week and soon after reaching this city Smith was taken ill. He was entered in the hospital on Sunday and Monday he underwent an appendicitis and gall stone operation. He continued to fail after the operation had been performed and his death occurred on Tuesday afternoon.
He has a father and sister living in Utah.
