James L. Beeler, age 72, of Monroe, MI passed away Monday, March 30, 2009 in his home.

Jim was born on March 17, 1937 in Maynardville, TN the son of Lillard W. and Madge Beeler.

The family moved to Monroe later that year. Jim attended Monroe Public Schools and served his country as a Medic in the US Army from 1957 – 1963.

On November 9, 1957 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Monroe Jim married his beloved wife the former Charon M. Minney. Sadly Charon preceded him in death on December 30, 2006.

Jim worked for Ford Motor Company at the Monroe Plant for 30 years, retiring as a Maintenance Man in February of 1994. Jim was a member of the NRA, Wild Turkey Federation and Ducks Unlimited. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all his family, especially playing with his 3 cherished granddaughters; Chelsea, Kayla, and Courtney.

Jim is also survived by his loving children; Jim R. and Tracy Beeler and Cheri L. and Brad Baumann both of Monroe, his mother Madge Beeler of Monroe, 4 brothers; Lillard (Carol) Beeler of Monroe, Donald (Linda) Beeler of Flat Rock, MI, Ronald (Betty) Beeler of Monroe and David (Jean) Beeler of Monroe, 2 sisters; Agnes Brewer and Ruby Braden both of Monroe. In addition to his wife Charon, Jim was preceded in death by his father, a brother Glen Beeler and a sister Peggy Jones.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 PM and Wednesday from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd, in Monroe, where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Rick Massingill, pastor of North Monroe Street Church of God will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe where the VFW Post #1138 will conduct military honors. Memorial contributions may be given to the Monroe Cancer Connection.
