He was born June 1, 1918, in Dickens County. He married Bobby Bratton in Crosbyton on Jan. 24, 1945. Pete graduated from Ralls High School in 1936 and moved to the Lazbuddie community in 1953. He served his country on the homefront during World War II as a farmer.
In Lazbuddie, he was a longtime Elder of the Lazbuddie Church of Christ. He enjoyed gardening, farming, and being a stockman. Mr. Mimms as a member of the 12th Street Church of Christ in Shallowater.
He is survived by his wife, Bobby B. Mimms of Shallowater; three sons, Kelly Mimms and wife Judy of Clovis, N.M., Clay Mimms and wife Reta of Ima, N.M., and Tracy Mimms and wife Andrea of Weed, N.M.; one daughter, Jill Moudy and husband Alvin of Lubbock; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jerrine Parks of Ralls and Doris Moorman of Clovis, N.M. He was preceded in death by five sisters, Gladys Gilstrap, Jewel Taylor, Claudia Porter, Leona Blanton and Merle McFarland, and four brothers, LeRoy Mimms, Darrell Mimms, Dalton Mimms and Marvin Mimms.
