Graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 Friday in the Clinton Cemetery.
Thomas William McLin was born Dec. 17, 1903, only 6 1/2 months after Clinton was founded, on the same day the Wright brothers made their famous flight at Kitty Hawk, N. C. He died Monday, Sept. 21, 1987, at Arlington Memorial Hospital.
A former civic leader here, he was serving on the Board of Education when the former Clinton High School - now the middle school - was built in 1935.
After growing up in the Clinton area and going to public school here, Mr. McLin attended both the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University on wrestling scholarships. On April 18, 1929, he married the former Willie Reeder, a Foss girl, at Anadarko.
During the Great Depression of the 1930s, Mr. McLin ran the Civilian Conservation Corps camp in Clinton. He eventually was employed by the Soil Conservation Service and worked 33 years, retiring in 1964 at Ardmore.
Mr. McLin lived in Arlington, Texas, for the last 14 years, having moved there to be near his daughter. A member of the United Methodist Church, he was a Master Mason and a 32nd-degree Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Willie, of the home in Arlington; one daughter, Dr. Mary Jane Dykes, Arlington; two brothers, James McLin, Wichita Falls, Texas, and Marvin McLin, Wellston; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
