Funeral services for James Taylor McLin were held at the 1st Christian Church in Clinton, OK, officiated by the Rev. E. F. Gasaway with burial following at the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kern Funeral Home, also of Clinton.

Mr. McLin came to Custer County in 1900 and filed on a claim about six miles west of Clinton. A few years later he moved to Clinton. He was married to Ada Clara Eddy on Dec. 29, 1901 at Arapaho, OK. To this union six children were born: An infant son (Name not known), Thomas Wm., Hazel Lee, James Harvey, Marvin Rupert and Dale Roderick.

He assisted in building the first rural telephone lines from Clinton, Foss and Arapaho, and for over 23 years was superintendent of this service which was operating under the name of The Mutual Telephone Company. He held membership in The Telephone Pioneers of America at the time of his death.

He was a member of The Woodmen of the World and was past chancellor and past grand of The Knights of Pythias. He served as a member of The Clinton Board of Education for 12 years.

He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Goss, four sons, Tom, Harvey, Marvin and Dale, all of Clinton.

Other survivors include six sisters: Mrs. Minnie Christy, of Emporia, KS, Mrs. Grant Ray (Emma), of San Diego, CA, Mrs. J. K. Latimer (Sarah) of Foss and Mrs. Harriet Lyons, Mrs. Steve Boan (Jennie) and Mrs. Arrena Latimer all of Holton, KS; two brothers: Todd McLin, of Holton, and Phil McLin of Stafford, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents and the infant son.
