His entire Navy career was with the TOP SECURITY AGENCY, and will leave it at that.
The most exceptional man I ever knew. I am truly blessed that he was MY Dad.
Wonderful sense of humor, smarter then anyone I ever met. Just knew everything, but not a "know it all" Dad was just extremely intelligent. Had many friends, buddies in the Service nicknamed him "Durk" and it stuck, another nickname was "Stagger Lee" because Dad like that song by Lloyd Price. Always had a group of his friends at the house and Dad would bring home young men in the Military that couldn't get home for Thanksgiving or Christmas to spend with us.
Loved sports, played baseball, at every duty station, he was on a ball team, with the exception of Guam, played baseball, and football there. At Ft. Meade, there were several Branches that played on the team...Dads buddy Nolan told me that after tossing names around, Dad suggested "Mox Nix" and told them what it meant in German. The name was voted in. :)
Loved Nature.
Wouldn't allow hunting on his property ;) as there were plenty of deer and he fed them on a regular basis.
Loved to Fish! caught the biggest catfish.Had great times fishing at the Ozarks.
Natural cook, actually cooked better then my Mom....maybe in the genes as his Dad was a Chef.
Loved fast cars, and owned several "muscle" cars!
NOTE: Many thanks to A. Horan for providing photos of my Dads marker. Forever grateful for that.
Also: Many thanks to David McInturff for the Christmas Wreath photos of my Dads marker. Again, forever grateful.
EDIT: See below where they have ** Denotes "half-sibling"?
Different families have different beliefs....in my Dads family, "HALF" wasn't believed in, wasn't even considered....so
MY *** DENOTES BROTHERS/SISTERS ........PERIOD
I also want to thank everyone that stops by my Dads page, along with my other family members. It means so much to me. When I do manage to get online, I end up leaving tokens on other pages, so your visits are that much more special. Thank you so much for your kindness and thoughtfulness.
