Alberta M. Taggart, 84, of Canton died at 5:55 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Canton.

She was born March 25, 1919, in Ray, a daughter of Clarence and Faye Parker Wright. She married Willis E. Taggart on June 23, 1945, in Rushville. He died Aug. 20, 1993.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Max; one sister, Alleyne Wright Roades; and one brother, Parker Lee Durkin.

Surviving are one step-son Willis J. (and Joan) of Canton; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granchild.

She was a member of the Salvation Army, where she served as a missionary sergeant and was a member of its Home League. She also was a member of Rebekah Lodge 245, Canton Women of the Moose and Fulton County Senior Citizens Club.

She was a volunteer for the nutrition program in Canton.

Services were held Monday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with Capt. Charles Cunningham officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.

Alberta and Alleyne were the daughters of Faye Parker Wright Durkin and Clarence Wright. Parker is the son of Faye Parker Wright Durkin and James Durkin, however, in MY FAMILY THERE ARE NO "HALF BROTHERS OR SISTERS!!!!!!!!"
