aka Sister Cecilia Urban. All four daughters were nuns in Brooklyn, New York. Nellie taught school. Sr. Cecilia Urban (Ellen) Kaney was born Feb. 8, 1873 in Sandusky, WI. Her parents, Patrick Kaney and Rose Croal, were both born in Ireland. Ellen attended Sandusky District School and St. James High School, Chicago before she entered the Sisters of Charity of NY on April 11, 1893 at the age of 21. As Sr. Cecilia Urban she made her first vows in July 1895. Her first mission was the New York Catholic Protectory from 1894 to 1906. In 1906 she was sent to St. Joseph Orphan Asylum, Brooklyn, NY where she taught 2nd grade until her death on April 19, 1934. Sister is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Queens, NY.
