She was born to parents Heinrich (Henry) A. Stocke and Catherine Dolte in Weisenheim. She came to the United States with her parents and seven siblings, arriving in New York, New York February 26, 1872. The family settled in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. She married August Baur February 24, 1884. They had 8 children, 7 of whom lived to adulthood. Sometime between 1913 and 1920 they moved to Philadelphia, where she later died.
