The funeral was Saturday at Gallant Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Schultz and Bob Leonard officiating and burial was in the Flintville Cemetery.
He was a native of Lincoln County, son of the late John and Rena Simmons. For many years, Mr. Simmons operated the Kayo Station at State Line near Madison County, Ala.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maybelle Collins Simmons of Fayetteville, a daughter, Mrs. Jean Holt of Adrian, Michigan, a son, Jimmy Simmons of Fayetteville; two sister, Mrs. Oldell Gray of Fayetteville, and Mrs. Elizabeth Boggs of Huntsville, Alabama; three brothers. Roy Simmons of Fayetteville, Guy Simmons of Decherd and Crawford Simmons of Tullahoma; a half-sister, Mrs. Carlene Bartlett of Huntington, Indiana;, and two half-brothers, Wayne Simmons and Roy Simmons both of Huntington, Indiana;; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
