Roy Lee. Simmons,66, died Tuesday at Huntsville Hospital, (Huntsville,Al.) after an extended illness.
The funeral was Thursday at Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home and burial followed at Flintville Cemetery (Flintville,Tn.) with full Military Honors.
The son of the late John D. Simmons and Rena Williams Simmons,he was a native of Lincoln Co.,Tn.
He served his country proudly,serving in the European,African and Middle Eastern Theaters..While in service,he was wounded several times, and was awarded the Purple Heart.Mr. Simmons was a member of the Disabled Veterans.
Surviving are his wife,Elizabeth Bradford Simmons,two daughters;
Sarah Faye Locke and Sherrie Jean Gardiner,both of Lincoln Co.,Tn.;
four brothers; Crawford Simmons of Tullahoma,Tn., Guy Simmons of Manchester,Tn.,Riley Simmons and Wayne Simmons, both of Hammond,Indiana; two sisters, Edna Odell Gray of Fayetteville,Tn.
and Caroline Bartlett of Huntingdon,Indiana.he is also survived by his five wonderful grandchildren.
