MATTHEWS
Mr. Kenneth Heidt Matthews, Sr., of Atlanta, died January 20, 1996. Mr. Matthews was born in Redan, GA.
He was a graduate of Georgia Tech and retired from Southern Bell in 1974 with 45 years of service. He was an active member of Georgia Tech Alumni Association, a member of Dixie Charter of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and Beecher Hills Baptist Church, where he was a member for over 60 years. He was a member of numerous neighborhood committees to guide and develop Cascade Heights as a family community.
Surviving are his wife, Nannie W. Matthews, Atlanta; sons, K. Heidt Matthews, Jr., Raleigh, NC, Walter P. Matthews, Dallas, TX; brothers, Dr. Norman L. Matthews, Marquette, MI, M. L. Matthews, Gainesville, GA; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 22, 1996 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Baptist Towers, 1881 Myrtle Dr. S.W., Atlanta. Rev. Raymond Dunn and Rev. Bob Matthews [his nephew] officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the Chapel of Baptist Towers. H. M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill.
