Donovan is the son of Frank Patterson and Opal Marie Leathers. Siblings include Roger Deane and Leatrice Marjean. He married Wanda Marie Malcom Oct. 3, 1948 In Oakville, Iowa. They have 5 children, Marcia, Gayla, Malcom,Kyla,and stillborn Darla Denise. He served with the 2nd Marine Division during WWII in Tarawa,Saipan,Tinian and Okinawu. He lived in Oakville, Iowa. He was a loving and gentle man, and known to me as "My Uncle Da".
