David Hubert Hawkins Sr., Edgemont Drive, died at the Washington Adventist Hospital, Takoma Park, on Tuesday, Dec. 8. He was born in Urbana, the son of the late Gilmer and Viola Woodfield Hawkins. He was the husband of Mn. Arlene Comegys Hawkins.

Mr. Hawkins was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. He served in the Armed Forces during the Korean Conflict and he owned and operated a trucking company.

Surviving besides his wife are one son, David H. Hawkins Jr., Walkersville; one daughter, Donna Blair of Frederick; three brothers, Edwin Gilmer Hawkins of Yellow Springs, William K. Hawkins Sr. of Braddock Heights, and Earl W. Hawkins of Jefferson; three sisters, Mrs. Katherine Hawkins Crittenden of Belleview, Fla., Mrs. Ellen V. Hildebrand of Woodsboro, Mrs. Jean H. Wood of Frederick; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7- 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, and Friday, Dec. 11, at the Smith, Fadeley, Keeney Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Mr. Hawkins will be taken to the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church on Saturday, Dec. 12 where he will lie in state from a.m. until time of services at a.m. The Rev. Brian T. L. Hunt will officiate. Interment will be in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 22 S. Market St., Frederick.
