Anthony Irvin Plichta, 76, of Waltersburg, formerly of Smithfield, died Friday, June 25,1993, at the Uniontown Hospital.
He was born in Uniontown,Pa., on August 13, 1917 son of the late Max and Anna Kurtik Plichta.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Anna M. Angeline Plichta on Dec. 7, 1984.
He was a member of SS.Cyril & Methodius R.C.Church in Fairchance, was a retired electrical lineman from IBEW. was a Staff Sgt. for the U.S. Army and a Prisoner of War during World War II, belonged to American Legion Post 278 in Smithfield and VFW Post 47 in Uniontown.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs Steve (Tony) Shay with whom he made his home in Waltersburg; one son, Frank Plichta of Manteo N.C.: four grandchildren: two sisters, Mrs John (Anna) Petruska and Betty Plichta of Uniontown.
The family will receive friends in the John F.Brownfield Funeral Home in Smithfield today from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday until 9 a.m. short prayers will be said followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in SS. Cyril & Methodius R.C.Church, Fairchance, with the Rev. Fr. Anthony Wozniak as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown. Wake Service will be held on monday evening in the funeral home at 8:30.
