Earl A. "Butch" Hahn Jr, 50, of 119 Steppland Road, died at 12:25 p.m. Tuesday from a heart seizure in the emergency room at Butler Memorial Hospital. He had been shoveling snow shortly before his attack.

Born Sept. 10, 1943, in Butler, he was the son of Anna L. Stepp Hahn of Butler and the late Earl A. Hahn Sr.

He was a lieutenant for the Penn Township Police Department and was a member of the Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn F. Dowell Hahn, whom he married March 25, 1966; a son, Darren S. Hahn of Albrightsville; his mother; six sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Doris) Smith of Saxonburg, Mrs. Gerald (Janet) Hoffman of Kennerdale, Mrs. Diane Goehring of Butler, Mrs. John (Rose) Terlisner of Rowlett, Texas, Mrs. Robert (Becky) Crawford of Butler, and Mrs. Harvey (Patricia) Daum of Butler; a brother, Richard L. Hahn of Chicora; and a granddaughter.

Friends of Earl A. "Butch" Hahn Jr., who died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 1994, will be received Wednesday and Thursday. A mass of christian burial will be Friday. Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park.
