The youngest of the five children of Homer M. and Loretta Osa (Thompson) Wright. He served 2-1/2 years in the U.S. Army Air Force as a Lieutenant. Doyle became a police officer with the Anderson (Indiana) Police Department, rising to Chief of Police, and retired in March 1972. He was a member of the board of Region Four Criminal Justice Planning Agency and a past board member of the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Agency where he chaired the Standards and Curriculum Committee. He served as a member of Anderson Board of Public Safety and the Anderson Board of Works, chairing in 1984. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and American Legion Post No. 127; past member of the Elks Lodge No. 209; Noon Kiwanis Club; Fellowship Masonic Lodge; Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, Murat Temple; Madison County Shrine Club and past president of the Fraternal Order of Police No. 48. He is survived by his two daughters, Judi McKeand (Bill) of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Cindy Roberts (John) of Rotonda, Florida; sister Madelyn E. France of Franklin, Indiana; grandchildren: Nicole Scott, Kristin Pate, Todd (Cara) Armstrong and Lori Strauss; great-grandchildren, Jared Scott, Trae Armstrong, Jaxon Armstrong, Haylie Armstrong, Alexa (Charles) Bischoff, Kylie Sowder and Mackenzi Strauss; great-great-grandchild, Payten Armstrong; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 61 years Mary (Kilgore) Wright; brother Wallace H. Wright, sisters Ada G. Wright and Mildred I. Ronan, and an infant daughter. Doyle died at his residence. Visitation on December 7, 2011 at the Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, Anderson. Members of the Anderson Police Department honor guard stood watch at the casket. Private family graveside services December 8th at Anderson Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dr. Reggie Lee officiating. Graveside services also included full military honors and salute.
