At on time Ray worked for Curtis Wright Aircraft Co. assembling doors to the aircraft AT9 trainers. Raymond entered the U.S. Air Force November 1942 and for 3 years was in the Third Air Force, his unit was pulling tow targets for the rookie pilots. He served until Dec. 1945 when he was honorably discharged. After the war, he went to work for American Thermometer, Assembly & testing thermostates used in heating equipment. After his marriage he then worked for Airtherm Heating and Air Conditioning Co., became purchasing agent and after 33 years, retired in Dec. 1982.

"Raymond was a handsome man; very good looking and neat about himself and his belongings. He was tall, trim and made an excellent, neat appearance. He was patient and lovable and a great friend. He loved doing favors for people and helping those who needed help. He was especially concerned and there for his widowed sisters and mother-in-law. He was always there when people needed him. He was very handy with household chores, puttering around the house and home upkeep. He was creative and enjoyed wood working and crafting in his retirement. He was a sportsman and loved to watch the local baseball team games; big leagues. He had a lot of friends and a sense of humor. He inherited a family trait of working hard and keeping busy. He was a devoted son, father, husband and grandfather."

Ray passed away on the 15th of May. He had lung cancer and has been sick since Christmas. Thought at first it was pneumonia but early March diagnosed lung cancer. Took one chemo treatment and could not handle anymore. Downhill after that until finally on the 15th, he lapsed into coma for a few hours and then left us. Before he died, when he was unconscious, the priest gave him the last rites, priest left the house at 5 minutes to 12 noon and 10 after 12 Ray took his last breath. Blessing He had been thru so much. By-Pass heart operation a few years ago, then couple years ago breast cancer, then lump and cancer on buttocks, then the lung. So he had his share of suffering. Katie had Hospice at the house so he got all his final care at home."
