"Lawrence (born 12/30/1923) also worked for Curtis Wright Aircraft Co. and then served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was honorably discharged and after the war, he was an Industrial Engineer at McDonnell Aircraft , attended Washington University to complete his education and retired from McDonnell May 9, 1979. He then fulfilled his dream and moved to a farm in Beaufort, MO raising cows and chickens with wife "Jeanie". "Larry" married Agnes Jean (nee Barnard) 10/11/1947 and they had 7 children. She was a teacher and education was very important to this family. All their 7 children finished college which indicated how they valued education."
"Larry" was tall, trim, handsome and muscular; an outdoor person. He followed his father in the love of the outdoors; hunting, fishing, & farming., He was also very mechanically talented working with his hands and repairing things. He inherited a very strong work ethic from his father and a love of family from his mother. In his school days, he helped the sisters at the convent and school; cleaning school and running errands. He was active in Boy Scouting and had been an assistant Scout leader. While in the Navy, he at-tended the Henry Ford Trade School. The West Coast and in Hawaii. He bought the farm in Beaufort, MO from his widowed mother and the farm is a gathering place for his family and friends. His children and grandchildren find every opportunity to visit and stay over night or week end at the farm. The original old house still stands and at first it was updated to make it livable but when Larry and Jean retired to the farm, they built a new modern house. It is still an excitable adventure for the children and grandchildren to over-nite in the old house. Every year, the Sunday before Labor Day, the farm is the scene of a big family and extended family reunion. It is like an old fashioned church picnic sometimes attracting as many as 100 persons; family, extended family and friends. It is always an event to look forward to.
"Lawrence is a religious man and has been a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph Church, Nier, MO; their parish. He was always active in church, he started an athletic program in his former parish, Assumption Church at Mattese, MO and active in planning the future growth of the program. He was always athletic and played soccer , basketball and softball. Larry loved music and played in the Drum and Bugle Corp at Hadley Technical High School. He also played the trumpet and was an accomplished "jitterbug" dancer. He enjoyed "Big Band" music, the classics. He enjoys helping neighbors and family with repair jobs, farm equipment, lawn mowers etc. "Larry" is a loving husband, father and adoring grandfather. He expounds on how grateful he is to almighty God for all his blessings."
