Jacob Abernathy, 79 years old, died Saturday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roy Gaither of Lutesville, Mo. He had been ill of paralysis several months and had recently suffered another stroke. He was born and reared on Cane Creek near Lutesville, and lived in this county his entire life. For the past few years he had resided in Lutesville.
He was married to Miss Rura Eaker.
Besides the widow, four children survive, George Abernathy of Marble Hill, Mo.; Mrs. Perry Shell of Greenbrier, Mo.; Mrs. Omer Jones of St. Louis, Mo.; and Mrs. Roy Gaither of Lutesville. There are 27 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
One son, Sheridan, was killed by a train about seven years ago.
Funeral services were Sunday afternoon at the Cane Creek Church conducted by Rev. Louis Dobbs. Burial was in Shelton Cemetery.
