Toad was born March 22, 1925 to Lou and Elinor Estes Monroe, he was the fourth child born of ten from Nolan, Texas. Toad married Sadie Jewel Perry on May 31, 1947 in Nolan, Texas. They moved to Sweetwater in 1951 where they built their home. He passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital at the age of 86. Toad worked in the oil field for over 30 years as a heavy equipment operator and had worked for Britt Construction and T & R Oilfield Construction, where he retired at the age of 70.

Toad is survived by his wife Sadie Jewell, one daughter Lora Williams, two grandsons J.W. Williams, Thomas Williams and wife Sarah, one granddaughter Megan Lopez and husband Adam, six great grandchildren Trevor, Braxten, Logan, Michael, Tyler and Brooklyn all of Sweetwater. He is also survived by six sisters Willie Fay Burrus, Jessie Lou McReynolds, Minnie Ruth Macloud, Ina LaNelle Cogdell and husband Joe, Annette LeCompte and husband Ronnie, Yvonne Lister and one brother J.B. "Mutt" Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Birdie Eileen Rountree, and one brother L.D. "Budd" Monroe.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 11, 2011 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Vic Meyer officiating. Interment will follow at Slater's Chapel Cemetery at Nolan, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Williams, Clifford Williams, Adam Lopez, Dale Monroe, David Cogdell and Russell Cogdell. Honorary pallbearer will be J.W. Williams.
