Funeral services for Dale Christensen, 67, of Lakota were held Tuesday, October 5 at 1:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lakota. Mr. Christensen died Saturday, October 2, 1993, at his home in Lakota. Winter Funeral Home of Buffalo Center was in charge of arrangements and interment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Nancy Haas, organist, accompanied soloist Verlin Griese. Congregational hymns were also sung. Casket bearers were Donald Kahler, Robert Price, Murray Berggren, Robert Hansen, Larry Gordon and Jack Garrett.
Dale Christensen was born August 3, 1926 to Soren and Anna (Kerr) Christensen at Plover, Iowa. He attended school at Plover and then moved with his parents to Graettinger in 1939.
November 22, 1947 he was united in marriage to Doris Poppinga at Graettinger. The couple farmed west of Graettinger until Dale was employed at Hanson Gas and later employed by Robert Price. They moved to Lakota in 1966. Dale was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Dale is survived by his wife, Doris of Lakota; two daughters, Carolyn Cruichshank and husband, Christopher, of Dunedin, Florida; and Debra Kiewiet and husband Donald, of Elmore, Minnesota; two sons, Robert and wife Becky, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Steven of Lakota; also by seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; four sisters, Lura McGuffin of St. Paul, Minnesota; Nelva Hansen of Graettinger; Merle Kauffman of Swea City; and Lula Schmidt of Emmetsburg; and by one brother, Warren Christensen and wife, Jenny, of Graettinger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and two brothers.
