Services were held on Tuesday, March 26, 1985, at 10:00 a.m. for Anna L. Christensen at the Beiter Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. Mr. Paul Elliott of Applington officiated. Interment was in the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery at Rolfe. Pallbearers were Mike Hansen, John Hansen, Chris Hofer, Terry Swensen, David Schmidt and Bob Hansen.
Anna died on March 23 at 3:50 p.m. at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville, where she had been a resident the past year and one-half.
Anna Lela Christensen was born on August 29, 1886, to Alfred and Sarah Adeline (Smith) Kerr at Newton in Jasper county. The family later moved to Pocahontas county and farmed in the Ware and Havelock area where Anna received her education. On September 4, 1904, she was united in marriage to Soren Jensen Christensen. To this union 11 children were born. They farmed in the Pocahontas, Ware, Plover and Rolfe areas before moving to Graettinger in 1938.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Lura McGuffin of St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Russel (Merle) Kauffman of Swea City, Lula Schmidt of Emmetsburg, Nelva Hansen and Alvena Christensen of Graettinger; two daughters, Warren of Larchwood, and Dale of Lakota; one sister, Mrs. Lula Mawk of Seaside, Ore., and one brother, Floyd Kerr of Kelson, Wash.; 26 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; and 16 great great grandchildre
She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, two brothers, two daughters, two sons, and one great great granddaughter.
