Services were held Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 for Lily Lounsbery who suffered a stroke at her home in Lennox late Tuesday afternoon. She died at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls on Wednesday morning, Dec. 31, 2003. She attained the age of 88 years, 11 months and seven days.

Lily Sophia (Edman) Lounsbery was born Jan. 24, 1915 to Abel and Rosemary (Andrews) Edman, on a farm north of Beresford, SD. She grew to womanhood there, graduating from Beresford High School in 1934.

Lily married Verle Lounsbery on Mar. 31, 1938 at Worthing, SD.

They lived north or Beresford and in 1939 moved to Bonesteel, SD where they owned and operated a service station until 1955. They ranched near Bonesteel for six years before moving to Sioux Falls where they operated a cafe until 1965. In 1966 they moved to Lennox where they owned and operated Lily's Sewing and Variety, retiring in 1976. Her husband died Jul. 19, 1982. She continued to live in Lennox since that time.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers; three sisters and one grandson.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Roger Lounsbery and his wife, Ronna, of Ottosen, IA; her daughter, Kay Breed and her husband, Charles, of Inwood, IA; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three brothers; Lyle Edman of Belle Plains, MN, Charles Edman of Littlerock, CA and Ray Edman of Sturgis, SD; one sister, Gladys Thorson of Canton, SD.
