John Sherman Adkins 72, of New Castle, IN passed away April 24, 2010. He was born January 18, 1938 to William V. and Lena (Wells) Adkins. John worked for Air Tron Heating and Cooling for many years. He enjoyed fishing and being the "Handyman" for his family.

John was preceded in death by one son, Steven F. Adkins; and brothers, Victor, Edward, and James Adkins. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; sons, Kevin and Allen Adkins and Randy (wife Laurie) Johnson; daughters, Janice Adkins, Manda Mindach, and Miranda Johnson; sisters, Beulah Bullock, Grace Whitaker, and Sylvia Boggs; brothers, Chuck, Larry, Shelby Lee, and Buell "Raz" Adkins; nine grandchildren, Kevin Wayne, Jonathan Wayne, Douglass William (wife Ashley), Christopher, J.R. and Erin Adkins, Joey and Andy Mindach and Levi, Logan, and Landon Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Madison, Landon, and Kaitlyn Adkins.

Calling for Mr. Adkins will be Wednesday, April 28, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. at Legacy at Memorial Park Funeral Center, 9350 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. Service will be Thursday April 29, 2010 at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.
